Trained at Chelsea College of Art, Katherine Sheers worked internationally as a lingerie designer before transitioning to a career in visual art. Her early profession creating the most intimate of garments for women, fostered a deep curiosity about what is concealed and revealed, consciously or otherwise, of the body and the self. Working across a range of mediums, her drawn work is expressive and instinctive, her stitched work patient and contemplative. These tidal changes between composure and tempest embody the experience of being human which Sheers’ is attuned to rendering.
